Iran-China-Hosseini
Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Monday that his country is ready for expansion of cooperation with Iran in different fields.
"Iran is an important country and we are ready for promotion of ties with Iran in all fields," Yang told Iran's visiting Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Mohammad-Ali Hosseini here Monday.
Yang, receiving President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's written message to his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao, told Hosseini that relations between Iran and China are growing and in a good level.
He said Iran maintains an important and influential position in regional and international organizations, including Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) adding his country has no problem with Iran's SCO membership.
"Beijing is interested in promoting cooperation with Iran within framework of the SCO. A legal document for accepting new members to the SCO is in stage of compilation and it will be discussed in the future SCO summit," he said.
Switching to Iran's nuclear problem, Yang said it should be solved through constructive talks and diplomacy.
He also welcomed presence of Iran's president in opening ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games as China hosts the two games.
He added that he will deliver Ahmadinejad's message to Hu on Monday.
Hosseini for his part said Iran and China hold close and similar stances on many issues and a bright prospect is ahead of bilateral ties.
As a country maintaining an observer status in the SCO, Iran has good relations with the SCO member and observer countries and has actively taken part in the Organization's meetings, he added.
On Afghanistan, Hosseini said, "Conditions in Afghanistan are worrying and the SCO members can cooperate within a proper framework to solve problems facing the country and the region."
As for Iran's nuclear issue and upcoming visit of Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana, Hosseini said, "While Iran was studying the G5+1 proposed package, the EU adopted issuance of fresh sanctions on Iran and that's a regretful and shocking move. The more steps Iran has taken for peaceful settlement of the nuclear issue, the more sanctions have been issued against it, which we hope the west approach in solving Iran's nuclear problem will be rectified."
