Baku says Iran is not a threat

Baku, July 14, IRNA

Iran-Azerbaijan-Ibrahim
Azeri Foreign Ministry spokesman K. Ibrahim said Monday that his country does not consider Iran as a threat.

Ibrahim told a press conference, "We believe Iran will not resort to any action which will threaten peace in the region."
The Azeri official made the comment in reaction to the US Ambassador to Baku's interventionist claims that Iran's missile test is a threat and danger to Azerbaijan.

"During Iran's missile tests, Azerbaijan did not feel any threat because there are good and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran and friends cannot pose any threat against us," Ibrahim said.

He added that there are no problem between the two countries and "we have always been interested in having not the least problem in bilateral relations."
He said expansion of Baku-Washington ties will not have any impact on relations with Tehran as expansion of Tehran-Baku ties will not have any impact on Baku-Washington ties.
