Tehran, July 12, IRNA

Member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Fatemeh Alia said Saturday that Iran will not be harmed by the sanctions.

"The West should know that Iran will not be harmed by sanctions rather it is the US and European states which will be hurt the most," Alia told the special advisor to the chief minister of Pakistan's Baluchistan province and provincial minister of communications, Roqiyeh Hashemi on Saturday.

Alia said that Iran's efforts to acquire nuclear technology is only for peaceful purposes to meet its energy needs as well as those of Islamic states.

She criticized the West's troop build-up in the region on the pretext of the campaign against terrorism and said, "Today it has become evident for all that Taliban was masterminded by the US itself and their presence in the region is essentially aimed at supporting Israel's crimes against Muslim nations."
She said that the US and Western presence in the region is only aimed at plundering the wealth and the natural and God-given resources of the region.

She pointed to the growth in poppy cultivation after Western presence in the region and said, "The question is why the European states and the US that have high technological capabilities and equipment do not use them for wiping out drugs?"
Referring to abundant commonalties shared by Iran and Pakistan, Alia said, "The commonalties have consolidated and promoted good ties and expanded cooperation between the two sides in all fields, especially in the border issues."
Hashemi said for her part, "Fortunately, Iran and Pakistan maintain good cooperation, which is hoped to help Pakistani women use Iran's experience to raise the level of Pakistani women's social participation."
She thanked Iran for building ties with Pakistani Baluchistan province and urged expediting the laying of gas pipeline.

She also appreciated Iran's efforts to upgrade women social participation and help Iranian women attain knowledge in different fields of science.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is advised to inform the world and regional states of its experience and success in that connection," she concluded.
