Iran's head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) Mehdi Mostafavi said on Saturday that Iran respects all divine religions including Buddhism.

In a meeting with a number of Thai senators from the Thailand's Upper House (Senate), Mostafavi said that Islam and Buddhism are two great religions.

He also said that Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to promote its mutual relations with the Thai nation that is Buddhist.

Stressing Iran's goodwill to any religion, Mostafavi said: "Both religion and science are the firm bases for making relationships between human beings."
Furthermore, he called for Tehran-Bangkok further religious, scientific and cultural ties.

Iran and Thailand as the two Asian countries enjoy considerable cultural commonalties that help them meet spiritual needs.
