Iran-US Candidates-Talks
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that since Iran favors dialogue, it is ready to hold talks with the US presidential candidates before mass media.
He made the remark at a press conference on the sideline of D8 Summit in Kuala Lumpur in response to a question whether Iran will agree to hold talks with Barack Obama, if he voices his readiness to do the same during his imminent visit to the Mideast.
"Last year, I announced in the UN Headquarters at New York that I am ready to talk with Bush about the global issues and now I also declare that I am prepared to debate with the US presidential candidates," the president said.
Asked by Reuters about Iran's stance on nuclear issue, Ahmadinejad said, "Our nuclear position completely is clear: law and justice for all." "We will never withdraw from our positions even by an inch," he underlined.
Underscoring dialogue under just conditions, he also said that Iran has always favored negotiations but within the context of law and justice.
Commenting on a possible attack on Iran by the US, as asked by the Reuters correspondent, he also said that this is more like a comic play than a serious issue.
"Not only Bush but also his allies are not able to deal a tiny blow to Iran," the chief executive said, adding that there are many wise men in the US who will not allow Bush to commit 'such a political suicide'.
Stating that its economic and political conditions will never allow Bush to do the same, Ahmadinejad also said that the Iranian nation is united and prepared to defend its rights.
