Shia leader calls for clarifying fate of Iranian diplomats

Deputy head of the Shia Higher Council of Lebanon Sheikh Abdullah Abdul Amir Qabalan on Thursday underscored the need for clarifying the fate of abducted Iranian diplomats soon.

Qabalan made the remarks in a meeting with families of the four Iranian diplomats, who were abducted in Beirut in 1982 concurrent with the occupation of the Lebanese capital by Israel.

Expressing sympathy with families of the diplomats, he called for expediting efforts for clarifying their fate, who are kept in custody of Israel.

The Lebanese lawmaker added that despite differences and paradoxes in his country, it is still in line with resistance to threats of the enemies.

On the occasion of 26th anniversary of abduction of the four Iranian diplomats in Lebanon, a meeting with an aim of deepening solidarity was held at the headquarters of Lebanon Journalists Union in Beirut on Thursday.

Iranian then Charge D'affaires Mohsen Mousavi, Diplomat Taghi Rastegar Moqaddam, Military Attache' Ahmad Motevasselian and IRNA Photo Journalist Kazem Akhavan were kidnapped by Falange militiamen, who were pawn of Israel, en route from a mission in north of Lebanon to Iran on July 4, 1982.

According to information, the diplomats are in custody of the usurper regime in Palestinian occupied lands.

Israel has agreed to provide a report on details of abducting the Iranian diplomats within the framework of exchange of prisoners with the Lebanese Hezbollah.
