Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa called on Monday for expansion of ties between regional countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Manama Hossein Amir Abdullahian, the Bahraini foreign minister said understanding among regional country would help restore security of the region.

"Mutual understanding among countries in the region would help them restore more stability," he pointed out.

Given regional developments and the vital role of security and stability in attaining sustainable development, he called for consolidation of ties with Iran.

The two sides reviewed issues of mutual interests as well as regional and international developments.
