Iran-Senegal-Haddad Adel
Speaker of Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel and Senegal's Senate Speaker Pape Diop discussed issues of mutual interest here on Saturday evening.
According to Majlis Media Department, in the meeting, Haddad-Adel referred to the history of parliament in Iran and said the Iranian nation have been among the pioneers of democracy and democratic systems in Asia and parliament in Iran is a strong institution and the manifestation of the national will.
He called for more cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries and said this cooperation is an important part of the mutual relations between Iran and Senegal.
He went on to say, "The relations between Iran and Senegal are very good and based on mutual respect and should expand in different economic and industrial fields."
Elsewhere in his remarks, Haddad-Adel pointed to the problems of the Muslim world especially to those in occupied Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon and said, "Nowadays, the Islamic world is threatened by different parts and the enemies of Islam want to strengthen their hegemony over Islamic countries by creating disunity among these countries and this plot should be thwarted by the Muslim world."
The Senegalese Senate speaker, for his part, said Iran is an important and strong country in the region and the world and added, "Fortunately, the two countries have steadily been developing their ties and the Senegalese officials are serious in expanding the relations."
On the problems of the Muslim world, the Senegalese visitor said, "It is the duty of all Muslims all over the world to prevent any attack on Muslims in any part of the Muslim world by their solidarity."
