Iran-Indonesia-Nuclear
Iranian Ambassador to Jakarta Behrouz Kamalvandi here Monday briefed senior Indonesian officials on Tehran's peaceful nuclear program.
In a meeting, Kamalvandi pointed to Iran's constructive cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is the only legitimate watchdog of the United Nations (UN) to monitor nuclear activities of countries.
He further referred to Tehran's implementation of additional protocols voluntarily.
The ambassador made the remark during a meeting with Chairman of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation of the House of Representative of Indonesia Abdillah Toha, Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari, and Minister of Research and Technology Kusmayanto Kadiman.
Turning to the fact that the continuation of discussion on Iran's civilian nuclear activities by member states of the UN Security Council is against international regulations, Kamalvandi added that the politically-motivated process has tarnished the image of the international community.
He further argued that Iran offered a package of proposals to big powers which indicated that Tehran respects the international community and holds a clear-cut stance in this regard.
He also expressed hope that the package will be considered far from political considerations in order to hinder scientific apartheid worldwide.
Toha welcomed the package of proposals presented by the Islamic Republic of Iran and said Jakarta supports Tehran's position in this respect.
Supari also condemned the West's attempt to tarnish the image of independent countries throughout the world, saying that western propaganda machines have launched all-out efforts to distort realities with an aim of securing the West's interests.
