VP: Expansion of Tehran-Baghdad ties to benefit both nations

Vice President for Executive Affairs Ali Saeedlou said on Sunday that the expansion of Tehran-Baghdad ties in various sectors will benefit both nations.

Saeedlou made the remark in a meeting with Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran Mohammad Majid al-Shaikh. He underlined that reconstruction projects in Iraq should be carried out more speedily.

Pointing to the amicable relations between the Iranian and Iraqi nations, he said that preparations should be made for establishment of closer relationship between Iranian and Iraqi private sectors for development of their trade exchanges.

According to the presidential information dissemination website, Saeedlou also said that religious, spiritual and historical commonalties between the two nations provide them with very good opportunity to deepen their relations in all fields.

Saeedlou, also head of Iran-Iraq Economic Development Headquarters referred to the fact that the enemies are afraid of solidarity between the two neighboring countries, adding that the arch foes of the two nations attempt to separate them.

Calling for facilitating of transportation between the two countries, he underscored the need for providing pilgrims with appropriate services.

Al-Shaikh, for his part, expressed satisfaction with the determination of both sides for expansion of mutual ties, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran has so far had ultimate cooperation with the Iraqi nation. He also hoped for continuation of mutual cooperation in the future.

Referring to the abundant commonalties between Iranians and Iraqis, he added that the two nations call for promotion of sustainable relations.

The ambassador also vowed to make efforts to resolving some problems facing Iranian pilgrims in Iraq.
