Sabotage in April 12 Shiraz blast not proved

Minister of Information, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejeie, said here on Wednesday that no reason, sign or witness has been found proving the possibility of sabotage in Shiraz mosque blast on February 12.

12 people died and more than 190 others wounded in an explosion at Rahpouyan-e Vessal cultural center that is part of Seyyed-ul Shohada mosque in a residential area of Shiraz on February 12, the capital of southern province of Fars Saturday evening.

The powerful explosion took place at around 21:00 local time (1630 GMT) on April 12 during an evening prayer sermon by a prominent local cleric.

He told reporters that the police and security officials have yet to clarify the cause of the explosion.

On Ilam incidents on the day of run-off election, April 25, the minister said, it was not an anti-security issue, but it was a domestic event which is being followed up by the Interior Ministry.

He added that no anti-security event occurred on the day of Majlis by-election.

The run-off election was held in 43 constituencies including, Tehran, Rey, Shemiranat and Islam Shahr where the candidates could not obtain the necessary quorum in the first round.
