Three police officers injured in a blast in Srinagar

Three police officers were injured when a detonator recovered by security forces Wednesday morning went off inside a police station today, official sources said.

The blast inside the Sadar police station occurred when the detonator exploded, resulting in injuries to two sub-inspectors and an assistant sub-inspector of the police station, sources said.

The injured were rushed to police hospital.

Security forces averted a major tragedy early today when they recovered a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) on the airport road here.

The device was found during a search operation in Haidarpura, CRPF spokesman P Tripathy said.

"The IED was mobile triggered and weighed 80 kg. It was recovered by the troops around 6 am this morning," Tripathy said.
