Pakistan army said on Wednesday that 9 militants including a senior local Taliban figure were killed during operation in the restive Swat valley.
An army statement said that many militants were also injured during a search and cordon operation conducted by security forces in Devloi area of Swat.
Two security forces personnel were wounded in the operation, it said.
The statement said that Ali Bakht a top-ranking militant was killed during the operation.
"Life at Swat remained peaceful, shops were open and people carried out their routine activities," it said.
The army launched a major operation against the militants in Swat valley last week after the militants killed three intelligence agents and also kidnapped over 20 security personnel from a check post.
In charge of the operation said yesterday that around 100 militants have been killed during the operation so far.
