Rawalpindi, Aug 6, IRNA

Pakistan-Taliban
Pakistan army said on Wednesday that 9 militants including a senior local Taliban figure were killed during operation in the restive Swat valley.

An army statement said that many militants were also injured during a search and cordon operation conducted by security forces in Devloi area of Swat.

Two security forces personnel were wounded in the operation, it said.

The statement said that Ali Bakht a top-ranking militant was killed during the operation.

"Life at Swat remained peaceful, shops were open and people carried out their routine activities," it said.

The army launched a major operation against the militants in Swat valley last week after the militants killed three intelligence agents and also kidnapped over 20 security personnel from a check post.
