Casualties rise to 5 in grenade attack in Srinagar

The casualties in a grenade blast at the busy Batamaloo bus stand in Srinagar Thursday afternoon has risen to five including three children while 18 other were injured.

Unidentified persons hurled a grenade on a Jammu-bound bus at the bus stand located in the periphery of Lal Chowk at around noon, sources said.

The injured have been admitted to hospital, no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

The grenade was hurled when the group of laborers from other states were boarding a bus to Jammu on way to their native places.

Meanwhile, in another incident in Doda, militants killed a surrendered Hizbul Mujahideen militant and three of his family members.

Militants barged into the house of Ghulam Hassan Wani, a former member of the Hizbul Mujahideen, in Marmath Badi village in the district early this morning and opened fired at him and his family members who were sleeping, police said.

However, the militants belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen managed to escape from the spot.
