Head of Islamic Culture and Communications Organization said that Islam boasts of valuable concepts able to solve spiritual problems facing contemporary world.
Addressing a meeting attended by members of the Indonesian Religious Scholars Council (Majlis Ulama) in Tehran, Mehdi Mostafavi also said that development of communications and exchange of religious information will help consolidate unity among the Islamic nations.
"Iran and Indonesia can take important steps in the fields of communications and sharing religious and scientific data," he said.
Referring to the strong ties between Iran and Indonesia, he also described the two nations as brothers and said that in the past years and following high-ranking Iranian officials' visit to that country, bilateral ties experienced considerable growth.
Enhancing relations between the two countries have created a promising prospects for taking advantage of each other's capacities, Mostafavi said, adding that given the historical backgrounds of the two nations, cooperation between them, especially in the fields of culture and religious affairs, can be expanded.
"Indonesia plays a crucial role in social and cultural reforms, particularly in promoting Islam in Southeast Asia," he said.
The official also called for holding scientific, cultural and religious gatherings in the two countries.
Amidah, Head of Majlis Ulama, said at the meeting that Iran shows admirable resistance against the enemies of Islam and this can serve as a good model for other Muslims.
"Enemies of Iranians are also enemies of Indonesians and we are trying to have closer cooperation in all fields," he said.
