Iran-Japan-Book Fair
The 15th Tokyo International Book Fair (TIBF 2008) opened on Thursday with some Iranian publishers being present in the event.
Present in the opening ceremony were senior Japanese cultural officials, Tokyo-based foreign ambassadors and many domestic and foreign publishers.
The four-day international event is being held in Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center) in Japan.
Iran's Ambassador to Japan Abbas Araqchi along with an Iranian cultural official was present in the inaugural ceremony.
During the event, 36 seminars on various topics including the impact of book reading on growth of children and young adults will be held.
Broadening cultural exchange among countries is of one the objectives of the TIBF 2008.
The 15th Tokyo International Book Fair is the biggest book fair in Japan in which 770 publishing companies from 30 countries have taken part.
Countries participating in TIBF 2008 include Iran, Australia, Egypt, South Korea, China, Belgium, US, Canada, etc.
