Pakistani Taliban occupy girls school, dispensary

Armed Pakistani Taliban have occupied a girls school and a dispensary in the country's tribal region, officials said on Tuesday.

Taliban took control of the two buildings at Charmag area of Bajaur tribal region, bordering Afghanistan.

Several girls schools have been torched in the region and Taliban are also opposed to polio vaccination, as they say polio is affecting child birth system.

An official said that a jirga or council of tribal elders has been sent to the region to persuade Taliban to end the occupation.

Taliban had recently announced to convert girls schools into religious seminaries. They had been very active in the tribal regions, including Bajaur.

On Sunday, Taliban announced setting up of courts to deliver verdicts.

They publicly executed two men on charges of spying for the United States.
