Milad Tower up for registration

Iran-Milad Tower-National Registration
Case of Tehran's landmark Milad Tower will be prepared for registration on the national heritage list, once its construction is complete, said managing director of Yadman Sazeh Company affiliated to Tehran Municipality.

Reza Mirsadeqi added that since full photos should be taken for inclusion in the list, its preparation was put off to the time when all construction phases are complete.

Sometime ago, the proposal to register the monument on national heritage list was made to the Municipality and it was agreed to do so by compiling necessary documents and deeds, he said.

Referring to the differences between Azadi and Milad towers, Mirsadeqi said that the approach towards the construction of the former is of national nature while the latter has been constructed based on special approaches mainly dealing with the megapolis itself.

Milad Tower is the symbol of Iranian engineers and experts' resolve and will help the capital meet its telecommunications needs and establish new television systems.

It also has meteorological application and is a tourism attraction.

Based on an announcement by Municipality officials, construction of the tower will be complete concurrent with Eid al-Fitr (October 1), which marks the end of the lunar fasting month of Ramadan.

Milad Tower, which is 432 meters high, is considered the fourth tallest and the highest telecommunications tower in the world.

Construction operations on the began in 1997.
